Victory Day celebrations in the RSL Hall Charleville, ca. 1946

(contact QldPics about this picture)

Decorations in the RSL Hall for Victory day celebrations at Charleville. The RSL Hall was purchased ca.1946 to serve as a War Memorial Hall and Clubrooms. The Charleville Returned and Services League Branch formed in 1919.
'Beilby' adds:
The first RSL Hall was a air-time igloo transported in from the aerodrome. It was located on the block of land where the present RSL now stands - i.e. opposite Miss Tottie Connolly and Frank Connolly's residence on the corner. This opening was a grand affair much talked about in town. Note the importance at that time of the presence of the Union Jack.
